Two things never leave your browser: the API key you paste in, and every word you say to the dead. That isn't a promise about our restraint. It's how the thing is built.

The summoning

When you speak with a mind, your browser talks straight to your own AI provider using your own key. The request doesn't pass through us, because there's no server here to pass it through. This site is static files. We couldn't read your conversation if we tried, and we have no log of it to hand to anyone who asks.

Your key is held in your browser's own storage so you don't have to paste it every visit. Clearing site data removes it. We never transmit it anywhere.

Counting visits

We run Google Analytics 4 to see which minds people read. It stays switched off until you accept the notice at the bottom of the page. Decline and the tag is disabled outright, so nothing is requested and no cookie is written. Your answer sits in your browser under deadthinkers-consent.

If you accept, Google receives a truncated IP address, the pages you viewed, an approximate city, and your browser and device type. Not your name, and not a line of any conversation.

The waiting list

Leaving an address on the enrolment form sends it to Kit, who store it and send the one letter we promised, on the day the library opens. Kit sees your email address and the fact that you signed up. Unsubscribing is one click in that letter, and it removes you from the list for good.

Hosting

Static files on GitHub Pages. GitHub logs requests for security and abuse handling. There's no database on this side.

Removing yourself

Unsubscribe from any letter Kit sends, or reply to it and say delete me, and the record goes. To clear the analytics side, decline the notice or clear your browser data. If you're in the UK or the EU you can complain to your national data protection authority.
